Island Psych Support
Island Psych Support provides a safe place for you to work with a caring, supportive registered clinical counsellor, addressing anything from adjusting to life changes to pervasive internal conflict.
I strongly believe that the therapeutic process is one of partnership where therapist and client work together to achieve a common goal - the emotional wellness of the client. This partnership is built on mutual respect, unconditional support and positive regard on behalf of the therapist and an understanding that at all times the client is in control of the process and outcome of therapy.
My principle approach to therapy is psychodynamic. Psychodynamic therapy, also known as insight-oriented therapy, focuses on unconscious processes as they are manifested in a person's present behavior. The goals of psychodynamic therapy are a client's self-awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on present behavior with an aim to greater satisfaction with life and peace of mind.
Other therapeutic models and theories used include Attachment theory, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and Solution-Focused Therapy.
