Campbell River Sobering and Assessment Centre
Campbell River Sobering and Assessment Centre (CRSAC)
About Sobering Centres
Sobering Centres are facilities that provide a safe, supportive, environment for mostly uninsured, homeless or marginally housed publicly intoxicated individuals to become sober. Sobering Centres provide services for substance-dependent individuals that may have secondary problems such as drug abuse/dependence, mental illness and/or medical issues. The primary goals for sobering centres include:
- To provide better care for homeless substance dependent persons and improve health outcomes
- To decrease the number of inappropriate ED visits for homeless alcohol-dependent individuals
- To create an alternative to booking individuals arrested for public inebriation
How do you get a referral?
Clients can access the center and the available resources in many ways:
- Clients can be transported by BC Paramedics, if the are medically stable and cooperative, as an alternative to going to Emergency at Campbell River Hospital.
- Clients can be referred by other community professionals such as RCMP, Adult Mental Health, Counsellors, Shelter Staff... and more
- Clients can self refer simply by turning up and asking for access to our services.
Who can be Referred?
- Are you 19 or older?
- Have you used alcohol or durgs in the last 6 hours?
- You want to go to a Sobering Centre and sleep.
- Are you willing to follow the Centre Rules?
