Campbell River Hospice Society
The Campbell River Hospice Society exists to provide compassionate support and companionship to meet the needs of individuals facing death, their families and their friends, and to those grieving a loss due to death. We are a dynamic non-profit society that offers end-of-life care and bereavement (grief) support services to the people of Campbell River and surrounding area free of charge.
Programs Offered
Advanced Care Planning – A process that provides you the opportunity to document and have a say in the health care you will receive if you are too sick to speak for yourself.
Bereavement Program - One-on-One volunteer support for individuals grieving a loss of a loved one due to death.
Bereavement Support Group - This group is led by trained facilitators able to provide information about grief. The groups are small and provide a safe place to share.
Grief & Loss Counseling - Individual counselling in our office around grief and loss for adults, youth & children.
Grief After Suicide - Individual counseling for anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide.
Grief Support Groups - Drop-in; Everyone welcome. Call 250 286 1121 for more information.
Hospice Hospital Visiting Team - Volunteer visits in hospital 5 days a week (weekends upon request).
Lending Library - Books, audiocassettes & DVD’s, brochures, government forms, estate information, funeral home info, etc.
Palliative Program - One-on-One volunteer support for individuals facing death, as well as their family and friends.
Relaxation Appointments - Enjoy Healing Touch, Therapeutic Touch & Reiki treatments at the Hospice Care Centre. Great for stress, anxiety or symptom management - clients, caregivers, volunteers and healthcare workers welcome.
Sally Wellman Memorial Garden - Purchase a plaque from Hospice in memory of a loved one. Families may also plant a non-invasive plant in the garden.

In early 2017 four community hospice rooms were opened, known as the Hospice Cottage at Yucalta Lodge. The private rooms, operated by Island Health, offer a warm and inviting space, including a family area with separate entrance and outdoor patio. Campbell River Hospice Society trained Volunteers are members of the team supporting those at end of life and their loved ones, wherever home may be. Hospice Volunteer services include vigil support, caregiver support, bereavement counselling and grief support. There is a landscaped pathway from our Hospice House directly to the Hospice Cottage and Campbell River Hospital. Please come up the path to the Hospice House. |
