Trauma and Abuse Counselling Centre

North Island Survivors' Healing Society has been in operation in Campbell River since 1993. The Centre offers individual counselling and facilitated group support for individuals affected by trauma and abuse.  Counselling is offered to residents of Campbell River and area, with some programs encompassing Ladysmith to Port Hardy.

Registered clinical counsellors specialize in working with trauma (e.g. accidents, war zone, life altering diagnosis) and various forms of abuse. All counseling is subsidized, by donation or third party billing. The Society gratefully acknowledges contributions from the province of BC and United Way Central and Northern Vancouver Island.

Abuse-related Women's Counselling Program Professional counseling is available for women who have experienced sexual assault, violence/abuse in relationships, or childhood abuse through the government funded Stopping the Violence program.
Addictions Integrated Counselling Program Professional individual counseling is offered for women who are survivors of abuse-related trauma and in early stage recovery from addictions.
Men's Counselling Program Professional individual counseling is provided for men who are survivors of physical and/or sexual abuse and neglect.

Remote Counselling Our various programs for survivors of trauma and abuse have options to see a professional counsellor remotely.
Trauma Counselling Program Professional individual counseling is offered for people who are affected by trauma from war, medical diagnoses, recreational- workplace - and motor vehicle accidents, animal attacks and witnessing violence or injury.
Trauma Informed Yoga When yoga classes are taught from a trauma-informed perspective, it has been proven to be helpful for survivors. Yoga can be both stimulating and soothing and it is important that these classes provide an opportunity for participants to feel safe, soothed and secure while our qualified instructor uses trauma-informed skills to emphasize present-state awareness.
