What is a Seniors’ Centre?

The Campbell River Seniors Centre is a multicultural, proactive resource centre that can address seniors’ issues and concerns in order to meet the social, recreational, nutritional, and informational needs of its members. It provides a location where seniors can gather at a time and place of their choosing. 

Mission Statement

To make a positive difference in the lives of the senior citizens of Campbell River and area by providing a facility in which they can socialize daily on a self-governing basis 

Our Goals

  • To operate and maintain a safe, welcoming, and attractive multipurpose facility
  • To build a sense of ownership whereby members and volunteers share responsibility for the life of the Centre and for each other’s welfare
  • To enable personal fulfillment through meaningful volunteer opportunities
  • To provide high quality nutritious food at the lowest possible cost
  • To provide programs which address wellness, recreational, educational and social needs
  • To play a leading role in providing information and referral services
  • To explore new initiatives to serve our members
  • To network and develop partnership possibilities with other seniors’ organizations

Membership

Membership is open to individuals who are 55 years or older and to their spouses regardless of age. 
Membership for 1 year is $15 unless one joins between July 1 and November 30 then the membership is 1/2 price.
Members must be in possession of a membership card to participate in all activities.

Leisure & Social Activities

Activities include: Billiards; Bingo; Bowling; Crafts; Dancing & Line Dancing; Games & Card Games (e.g., Mahjong; Mexican Training; Bridge; Cribbage; Euchre); Painting/Drawing; Parties; Quilting; Tours; Walking; Yoga

Information sessions on Computers and Advanced Care Planning are offered.   Please check out our calendar, located on our website, for a list of activities/programs and the days that they are offered.

Campbell River Better at Home Campbell River Better at Home is a program that helps seniors/elders continue living in their own homes longer and stay connected in the community by providing some basic non-medical home support services. Our services are provided to eligible seniors/elders on a sliding fee scale and some services may be free. The program is funded by the Government of British Columbia and administered across the province by the United Way of the Lower Mainland. In Campbell River, the program is provided by Volunteer Campbell River.
