Support/Outreach Program (Campbell River Young Parents' Program)
Community workers and guest speakers provide information, resources and assistance with transportation, housing, nutrition, relationships, etc, and a weekly parenting group.
We believe that a strong partnership between each of the four components (Education, Health, Support, and Child Care) and the parents of the CRYPP is essential. This partnership creates an environment in which parents can meet the demands of day-to-day life while working towards their educational goals and brightening the future for themselves and their families.
Population Served
- Young parents and other community families
- 16 out of 24 spaces are prioritized for participants of CRYPP
- In order to access an enhanced child care subsidy to cover the cost of child care while working towards high school completion, the young parent must meet the Ministry for Children and Family Development criteria, have become a parent while he/she was less than 20 years of age, and now be aged 24 or less.
- Services are offered to pregnant students and graduated students as they transition in and out of the CRYPP.

| Most young parents in the CRYPP attend Carihi Secondary or alternate educational programs at Robron Centre but may be attending another secondary school, Continuing Education or North Island College. |

| Quality licensed group care for up to 24 children aged newborn to 36 months, including snacks and lunches, with priority for space given to participants in the Campbell River Young Parents' Program. |
| Forest Circle Child Care provides quality licensed group child care for children from infancy to age 5. |
| A designated Public Health Nurse is connected with the Campbell River Young Parents' Program and makes individual appointments for immunizations and health information as needed. An Infant Development Consultant visits the centre each month to connect with parents and offer support and information. |
