Accepting new clients ~ Art Therapy and Counselling, Leanne Longeway

With a focus on helping clients reconnect to their inner strengths, along with building and expanding their strategies for self-regulating their emotions, I will offer clients attentive listening, genuine regard and my whole-hearted way of being.

My practice philosophy is trauma-informed with cultural-safety and holds at the forefront a social-justice based perspective. In the therapeutic process, my work is from a compassionate, personalized, effective and evidence based practice.

Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes in length, with the option of booking 80 minute sessions to allow for more in-depth processing and expanded time for art therapy sessional work. Honouring each person's unique lived experience, I draw from a diverse field of evidence based therapeutic modalities, tailoring therapy to meet the needs of the individual.

Counselling & Art Therapy

I work with cultural awareness and safety; you will find that my approach is from a holistic lens where I honour the whole person, believing that the interconnectedness of our mind, body and spirit is intertwined  relationally to others and fosters our connection to the natural world.

In my practice you will find that I often turn to the nurturing elements found in nature,
encouraging individuals to reconnect with their natural surroundings, creating space for reintroducing peace,
mindfulness, balance and grounding. In the fast-paced society that surrounds our lives, the counter balance that nature provides is a balm of serenity and calm.

Individuals seek counselling with me for a
variety of reasons: healing from trauma, grief and loss, expanding self-awareness, for support in changing the patterns in their life that no longer serve them, and for creating balance and finding peace within themselves. My therapeutic style is described as intuitive, collaborative, caring, creative and ethical.

I believe that everyone holds capacity to bring change to their lives if they are seeking change and transformation. This is a core belief that guides my counselling practice; a belief that is founded upon a lived experience of witnessing in others their resiliency, where they have allowed their inner wisdom to have a voice, celebrating others in their personal journeys where they rediscover hope and a vision for their future. This core belief considers the concept of change from the microscopic cellular level outwards to our external structure where we are engaged in a continuous ongoing dynamic of transformation and regeneration, for surely if our complete cellular system undergoes this process, the potential and possibility that our social, emotional, and cognitive systems can also undergo change.

I strive to hold space for vulnerability, curiosity, exploration and processing that paves the way to meaning making, understanding, personal growth and empowerment, a space where individuals feel empowered to speak their truth without judgment or bias.
