Campbell River and North Island Transition Society

SUMMARY OF OPERATIONS

CAMPBELL RIVER AND NORTH ISLAND TRANSITION SOCIETY (CRNITS) is a registered non-profit organization which has a mandate to end family violence and violence against women and children.  CRNITS programs and services are available to all women and their children in the North Vancouver Island Region. CRNITS operates Ann Elmore Transition House and Rose Harbour Transitional Housing in Campbell River. CRNITS also operates safe homes in remote locations.  There are no service fees associated to programs and services provided by CRNITS with the exception of subsidized rent at Rose Harbour.

ANN ELMORE TRANSITION HOUSE (AEH) is a short-term emergency shelter which provides safe shelter, support services, food, clothing and basic necessities for women, and their children, who are at risk of abuse/violence. Services also available at AEH include detox, supportive recovery and stabilization programs.

ROSE HARBOUR TRANSITIONAL HOUSING (RH) is a program which includes time limited subsidized housing and specialized services for clients, with or without children, who are impacted by homelessness, abuse, violence, and/or substance misuse.  Programs offered at RH include in-house life skills workshops, SMART recovery, Ready to Rent training, health services and a community kitchen.  Other specialized services are offered as needs dictate.

PALMER PLACE is a partnership between CRNITS and Campbell River and District Association for Community Living to provide long term, affordable housing for CRNITS clients.

CHILD AND YOUTH SUPPORT SERVICES are offered at Ann Elmore House and Rose Harbour. A Child and Youth Support Counsellor combines a variety of techniques to help mothers and their children address the impact of violence and abuse in their lives.

ONGOING SUPPORT GROUPS are available to women staying at AEH or living at RH, and to women in the community. Support groups vary in their content in order to address specific issues related to healing and change.  The Women’s Empowerment group assists women in their desire to break down barriers and improve their lives. SMART Recovery groups support women who have chosen to abstain or are considering abstinence from any type of addictive behavior.  Make a Change support group assists women in their desire to create a life free of violence.

OUTREACH SERVICES are available to women who are not in a residential program and/or live in isolated communities where their ability to access services in Campbell River is difficult.  Services include an on-site Outreach Worker, referrals and, where possible, access to a safe home.  Outreach Services also include community education about CRNITS programs and services, information on violence and abuse, and education on violence prevention/intervention.  CRNITS also offers the Stopping the Violence Counselling program.
