Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

Community Health Alert posted: 13-Mar-2020 12:30 PM PDT

Reminder to the public to keep updated with medically sound information from Island Health: https://www.islandhealth.ca/learn-about-health/diseases-conditions/novel-coronavirus-information

WE ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS! Your family physicians, nurse practitioners and walk-in clinics are available to provide care to patients by using telephone or video during the COVID-19 pandemic but many are also providing in-person appointments or will refer you to a clinic that does.

If you suspect you have been exposed to COVID19 – please PHONE ahead to your family doctor or a walk-in clinic and they will take your information and advise of next steps. Most clinics are not equipped to perform the testing for COVID19 and that is why alternate testing sites are being set up. When you call your clinic, you will be given clear direction for next steps should you require testing.

The emergency department is NOT the place to go for testing.

As a citizen, please help by following the guidelines around hand washing and social distancing and the additional precautions should you have symptoms or have recently travelled outside of Canada.
