Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

Community Health Alert posted: 13-Mar-2020 12:30 PM PDT

Reminder to the public to keep updated with medically sound information from: https://www.islandhealth.ca/learn-about-health/diseases-conditions/novel-coronavirus-information

As a citizen, please help by following the guidelines around hand washing and social distancing and the additional precautions should you have symptoms or have recently travelled outside of Canada.

If you suspect you have been exposed to COVID19 – please PHONE ahead to your family doctor or a walk-in clinic and they will take your information and advise of next steps. Most clinics are not equipped to perform the testing for COVID19 and that is why alternate testing sites are being set up. When you call your clinic, you will be given clear direction for next steps should you require testing.

The emergency department is NOT the place to go for testing.

Have questions? Call the national coronavirus information line: 1-833-784-4397

Note: You may ask your family doctor or walk in clinic for a telephone or virtual visit. To support social distancing and self isolation during the COVID-19, many clinics have already switched to offering such appointments when appropriate. Let's help keep our health care workers and fellow citizens safe.

Be sure to review the IMPORTANT Information on Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)document posted below on the right hand side bar.
